Tyson Goodsell North Mankato MN Obituary, Death: Authorities in North Mankato, Minnesota are investigating a homicide following the death of 17-year-old Tyson Goodsell, a Mankato West High School student who was fatally shot late Saturday night in a violent incident that also involved a vehicle crash into a residential structure.

According to the North Mankato Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 11:03 p.m. on May 23, 2026, to the area of Pleasant View Drive and Willow Lane after multiple reports of gunfire in the neighborhood. Shortly after the initial call, officials received additional reports that a passenger vehicle had crashed into a townhome located on Willow Trail.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 17-year-old male inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police removed the victim from the vehicle and immediately began lifesaving efforts before paramedics transported him to Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. Despite emergency medical intervention, the teenager was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities have not yet formally released the victim’s identity, pending notification of family members. However, law enforcement has confirmed the victim was a Mankato West High School student, and the loss has deeply impacted the local school community.

Investigators stated that the incident is being treated as a targeted act and do not believe it was random. Officials also confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public at this time.

As part of the active investigation, police are asking residents in the Pleasant View Drive, Northridge Drive, and surrounding neighborhoods to review any home security or surveillance footage. Investigators are specifically looking for a silver 2010 Chevrolet Impala that may have been seen in the area around the time of the shooting.

Multiple agencies are assisting in the investigation, including the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, Mankato Police Department, Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the North Mankato Police Department as the investigation continues. Further updates are expected as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
